Every year at the NAMM show, Fender puts on an exclusive event for Custom Shop Showcase dealers. Hundreds of instruments are displayed. This Heavy Relic '66 Jazz Bass by Masterbuilder Vincent Van Trigt stood out as a winner right away. Thankfully Truetone Music was lucky to be the winner for it!

The bass features a 2-piece select Alder body, a bound quartersawn maple neck with a comfortable '60 Soft "U" shape, AAA rosewood fretboard with block inlays, Josefina hand-wound pickups, and a vintage threaded barrel saddle bridge. If you're looking for a unique, vintage flavored Jazz bass, this is it. The Heavy Relic treatment was perfected by Vincent down to the finest detail (zoom in on the pictures to see). We haven't seen many as well done as this - he has brought a new level and attention to detail with his work.

Originally from the Netherlands, Vincent moved to California in 2005 and began working for Fender immediately. After wearing a variety of hats in different departments, he started in the Custom Shop in 2012. A 2-year assistant role with Stephen Stern at the Gretsch Custom Shop was followed by a 5-year apprenticeship with John Cruz. Now the newest Fender Masterbuilder, he has grown an immediate following, especially amongst bass players. Vincent is a bass player himself, and the love he has for the instrument shows in each one he makes. He has quickly become one of the most in demand builders, with a waitlist over a year long.
