Pre Owned PRS Paul Reed Smith 30 Guitar Amp Head

Pre Owned PRS Paul Reed Smith 30 Guitar Amp Head

Used And Vintage Amps

We just scored a hard amp to find, this killer PRS "30" head.  Made in 2009, it's a first year production for this model, which ran for 5 years, and has been highly sought after since.  There are a decent amount of combos out there, but the heads are hard to come by.

Not to be confused with the later run of offshore SE 30 heads, this is the original model, handmade in Stevensville, Maryland.  Paul Red Smith partnered with master amp designer Doug Sewell, collaborated for nearly 4 years before finalizing, perfecting and unveiling the highly anticipated PRS tube amp line in early 2009 to rave reviews.  The PRS 30 was the next in line, and was a hit right off the bat.

Described as "an English sound with an American twist", the PRS 30 features a quartet of EL84 tubes, plus two 12AX7 and two 12AT7 tubes, a 3-spring Reverb with medium decay and a special Master Volume that is dialed out of the circuit as the amp reaches the maximum setting.  The front panel has controls fo Volume, Reverb, Treble, Mid, Bass, plus the Master Volume.  It also has a bright switch.  The rear panel is simple - an impedance selector, fuse compartment, and extension jack in parallel with the speaker out jack.

The PRS 30 head is a very sensitive amp, with a lot of response depending on how hard or soft you play.  It offers a variety of different tones just based on the velocity of your playing the volume on your guitars.  This is a versatile amp for sure.  It sounds great overdriven, but also cleans up very nicely, especially with the spring reverb.  While not a high-gain monster aimed at metal guitarists, it's great for rock, blues, funk, country and many other styles.  Overall, it's nails the original concept of producing an English sound with an American twist.  It has a unique character and sound all its own.

This particular one is in incredible shape - the previous owner barely used it, and it stayed in his home studio the entire time.  It's really clean.  The amp has been vetted and tested to be in perfect working order.  It's quite the score!

**Please note the back panel is not included.
